About Me

¡Hola! ¿Qué tal?

Me llamo Ana, and I’m a qualified and experienced Modern Foreign Languages teacher with QTS, PGCE, and over 20 years of teaching experience.

I began offering private Spanish lessons over ten years ago after having my third child. Tutoring provides me with the flexibility to balance teaching with my family life, while allowing me to dedicate my time and energy to a select number of students.

What I love most about Spanish tutoring is the opportunity to really get to know each student individually, understand how they learn, and help them grow in confidence. Every student has unique strengths, challenges, and goals, and I tailor my lessons to suit their needs. I particularly enjoy seeing students develop their confidence, become more comfortable in their language learning, and, most importantly, start to enjoy the language.

For me, learning a language should be an enjoyable experience for students, not something they dread!

My Students' Success

I am incredibly proud of my students' achievements this summer:

Two of my students have gone on to continue their language learning at university, with one studying history with Spanish at Kings College London and another studying Business with Spanish at The University of Leeds.

Teaching Experience

My experience includes students from primary, GCSE, AS and A Level from all backgrounds. I have taught students from grammar schools such as Beaconsfield High, Watford Grammar and St Bernard’s Grammar, as well as those attending leading UK independent schools including St Augustine’s Priory, St Helen’s, Haberdashers’ Girls’ School, North London Collegiate, John Lyon and The Royal Masonic School.

I have also tutored students from local schools and surrounding areas, including Haydon, Bishop Ramsey Church of England School, Queensmead, Ruislip High School, Sacred Heart, St Joan of Arc and St Clement Danes.

I have taught in secondary and primary schools in and around London, most recently at Nower Hill High School in Harrow.

Exam boards covered:
AQA • Edexcel • Edexcel iGCSE • Cambridge iGCSE

My Approach to Tutoring

Every student is different, which is why I offer personalised lessons that cater to individual needs. In my lessons, I work alongside what students are learning at school, identifying areas where they need extra support while helping them build on their strengths.

The lessons are varied and engaging, closely following the National Curriculum MFL Programme of Study, with an emphasis on the four key language skills:

Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing.

I also prioritise exam preparation, drawing from a wide range of resources and past papers I’ve accumulated over the years to ensure my students are thoroughly prepared for their exams. I cover essential grammar, including the present, preterite, imperfect, perfect, future, conditional and subjunctive tenses, as well as ser and estar, por and para, pronouns, reflexive verbs and other key grammatical structures. For vocabulary acquisition, I frequently use Quizlet and assign weekly vocabulary learning as homework.

Most importantly, I want my students to feel confident, enjoy their Spanish lessons, and achieve results they can be proud of!
